A ten-sided die with the words one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine and ten.
Ideas
1. Have the student roll either the die with the digits or the die with the words. Then have the student find the same number or word on the other die. For more of a challenge, have him find the digit or the word that comes before or after the one rolled.
2. For students who can add and subtract, combine the dice with an addition and subtraction die. Problems such as 3 + seven require a bit more thinking because one of the addends appears as a word.
